A History of Nike SB’s Halloween Releases

When it comes to Halloween time, for Nike SB it’s always all treats, with no tricks. Unless you’re talking about ones on 4-wheels.

It’s always fun to take a trip down memory lane to check out the best, and some not-so-great, colorways of the past. Next time someone asks you about the ‘Dawn of the Dead’ SB Trainer 1 from 2007, you can tell them exactly where you found it.

Check out the full list below. Words by our very own Lawrence Hopkins.

Nike Dunk High SB ‘Sweet Tooth’ – Release: 2023

Inspired by everyone’s least favorite trick-or-treat candy, this year’s Halloween Nike SB release is probably the most vibrant to date. Please don’t be the house that distributes candy corn this year.

Nike Dunk Low SB x Neckface – Release: 2022

California-based artist, Neckface, gets his second go at a Nike SB after collaborating on a Blazer in 2014. Neck’s ghoulish characters are the perfect centerpiece for this very seasonal and spooky Dunk Low.

Nike Dunk Low SB ‘Mummy’ – Release: 2021

Halloween SB’s are so back. Not exactly the most popular costume choice anymore, but flawless execution by the Nike Skateboarding team. Eyeballs on the heel counter that the Powerpuff Girls wish they had, and one of the brightest glowing midsoles on any shoe, ever.

Nike Dunk Low SB ‘Night of Mischief’ – Release: 2019

Nike SB’s return to Halloween. Details have always been a trademark of the SB line, and this pair is riddled with them. Thank the ‘Night of Mischief’ Dunks for starting an annual tradition between Nike Skateboarding and October 31st.

Nike Dunk Mid Pro SB ‘Halloween’ – Release: 2014

There’s unloved, and then there’s Dunk Mid SB’s. If you told us this was a Halloween sneaker we’d certainly believe you, but they don’t exactly know the theming out of the park. While the insole art on this pair is laced with an awesome jack-o’-lantern graphic, the exterior leaves a little to be desired. The silhouette isn’t the only thing mid about these.

Nike Dunk High SB ‘Jason Vorhees’ – Release: 2007

Part of the legendary Nike SB “Horror Pack”, this pair may not hold the same lore as it’s unreleased cousin – however it still packs a similar punch. Inspired by everyone’s favorite machete-wielding villain, this pair helped kick off a legendary run of Halloween-themed sneakers.

Nike Air Trainer 1 SB ‘Dawn of the Dead’ – Release: 2007

The middle child of Nike SB’s ‘Horror Pack’. Often overlooked as a Nike SB silhouette – this Air Trainer 1 is the godfather of the now-iconic orange and purple Halloween color scheme we all know and love.

Nike Dunk Low SB ‘Freddy Kreuger’ – Release: 2007

The greatest sneaker to never release? Regarded as one of the greatest SB Dunks ever; the Freddy Dunk never officially released to the public. After facing copyright issues with the ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ franchise, it is said that all pairs were soaked in oil and burned.
