The adidas Gil Zero Restomod Gets the “Hibachi” Treatment

Gilbert Arenas and adidas are cooking yet again. Following the news of the adidas Gil Zero “UNDRCRWN” return, another No Chill Gil favorite is releasing this month in a new fashion.

In 2008, Agent Zero and Benihana teamed up for a Gil II Zero colorway, inspired by the guard’s “Hibachi” nickname credited to his ability to chop his opponents up.

The collaborative Gil II Zero featured the restaurant’s logo on the heel as 1,000 pairs were released in the DC area. Though Arenas never actually got to play in the pair, the “Cooking with Gil” promo videos and then-Golden State Warriors guard Nick Young wearing the pair in 2018 added to the mythical colorway’s lure.

The Three Stripes bestows the “Hibachi” colorways to the Gil Zero rather than bringing back the Gil II Zero. Nonetheless, the colorway is certified to get fans excited. The pair features the HIBACHI lettering embossed on the heel where the Benihana lettering once stood on the Gil Zero II. The same red hue appears with Gil Zero branding on the midsole and tongue.

The adidas Gil Zero Restomod “Hibachi” releases on January 27 for $140 on adidas.com and select retailers. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
