adidas Enters the Metaverse with NFT Launch

adidas has officially entered the Metaverse.

While other brands are in the process of finding their way into the space, the Three Stripes is already ahead of the curve. Not only did the brand launch an NFT with their rookie Jaguars’ QB Trevor Lawernce, but adidas recently launched a one-of-a-kind collectible.

Though technically not an adidas NFT or a coin, adidas notified adidas CONFIRMED users about the POAP NFT (Proof of Attendance Protocol) and linked users to the POAP site to add the collectible to their Ethereum (ETH) wallets. The brand has not specified what the token will unlock. However, POAP NFT’s are known to blend the real and the virtual for their users.

“POAPs are unique NFT badges given out to attendees of both virtual and real-world events. While POAPs can be used to keep a record of your life experiences, others envision a future where POAPs play a much bigger role in the digital economy,” according to Crypto Briefing.

As we explored in our NFT story and the SoleSavy podcast on NFTs, brands are going to play a big role in the digital realm of sneakers, streetwear, and the overall consumer experience. This is just the beginning for adidas. Although the POAPs are fully claimed, we can expect more from adidas soon.
