The Air Jordan 9 “Chile Red” Reportedly Delayed Once Again

The Air Jordan 9 is one of the most interesting members of the original Air Jordan line. While its colorways, design elements, and overall inspiration are worth noting, the historical context of the AJ9 makes the shoe even more of a relic than a performance model.

His Airness never played in the Air Jordan 9 as Bull but did go on to wear a cleated version during his baseball stint and would wear the Air Jordan 9 “Cool Grey” as a member of the Washington Wizards.

Years after the AJ9’s debut, the legacy of the silhouette continues to grow. As a part of the Holiday 2021 collection, Jordan Brand unveils an all-red iteration with black details for a bold look that stays true to OG colorways and bodes similarities to the AJ9 “Motorboat Jones” from 2012. In addition to its vibrant tones, the AJ9 features a quilted stitched upper, a glossy midsole with a patent leather mudguard, and arrives in OG packaging.

Initially delayed to February, the Air Jordan 9 “Chile Red” is now expected to release on May 27 due to manufacturing issues related to COVID-19, much like the Air Jordan 5 “Jade Horizontal” release. The pair retails for $190 and is expected to release on SNKRS and select retailers. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
