Japanese fashion label BEAMS has had a long history of tasteful, understated footwear collaborations with brands over the years, especially New Balance. For their latest project together, BEAMS has dug into the archives and retro’d the RC205, a running shoe model from New Balance that was previously known as the COMP800 upon its debut in 1996.
The sleek shoe is outfitted in a sturdier black mesh and full-grain leather side paneling in light grey that adds further structure to the racing equipped model. Tonal, black suede overlays are applied around the lacestays, heel, and forefoot as well. “205” is embroidered onto the lateral portion of the heel while a “New Balance Racing 205” logo is applied to the grey tag on the tongue. All of this sits atop a plain white ABZORB foam midsole for that classic New Balance comfort. The stylish BEAMS x New Balance RC205 drops on September 19th on BEAMS’ website for $113 USD.
