COMME des GARÇONS CDG, the logo-laden off-shoot of Rei Kawakubo’s main brand, has just announced an upcoming collaboration with none other than Cynthia Lu’s Cactus Plant Flea Market. This collaboration makes perfect sense considering how much the two brands share in common. CDG and CDG PLAY especially are in line with CPFM’s graphics-heavy yet experimental take on streetwear staples, as both brands combine playful iconography and text alongside high-quality materials.
The CDG x CPFM capsule will consist of two white graphic tees. The first shirt features CPFM’s signature double-eyed smiley face logo screen-printed above a “CDG” logo in bold, black text, with a series of red stars featured printed in the center of the tee. The second shirt is far more text-heavy with two stacked phrases reading “GO BE KIND” and “GROW CDG”. The font used throughout is Lu’s signature bubble lettering save for the “CDG” done in their own logo. The words “GO” and “BE” are each encased green and red sun graphics, respectively. At the bottom of the shirt, CPFM.XYZ is featured prominently in Lu’s aforementioned style.
The shirts will first release on the CDG Japan site on May 7th for ¥11,000 JPY (~$100 USD) followed by a release at a later date on the American CDG site.
