Inspiration is a very powerful thing, especially when it comes to sneaker designs. When a certain style or trend catches on fire, it’s almost expected that another brand will run with that inspiration and make it their own. We’ve seen brands adopt trends throughout the course of sneaker history, and the latest is no different.
Diadora, the Italian sportswear brand founded in 1948, continues to excel within its historic archive with the use of premium materials and timeless silhouettes. Though, its latest venture is more modern as this upcoming Diadora Maverick sports a familiar look to Virgil Abloh’s work under the OFF-WHITE x Nike partnership across the Dunk series.
Unbreakablekicks, the account that found the Maverick in the first place, points out that the design looks familiar. If you’re aware of Virgil’s catalogue with Nike, the over lace design structure is almost a signature of Abloh’s. However, the Maverick’s own personality and DNA separate the shoe enough to still make it a Diadora sneaker.
The latest Diadora Maverick releases on September 24 for $150 on Champs and select retailers.
