adidas’ decades-long line of understated Stan Smith sneakers has seen its fair share of upgrades and colorways, but only a partnership with iconoclasts like COMME des GARCON off-shoots Dover Street Market could result in the latest adidas Stan Smith. A premium version of the adidas Stan Smith made in collaboration with Dover Street Market will release online at all DSM stores on Thursday, April 9th.
Stripped of all branding and colors, save for contrasting logo prints on the heel, the DSM Stan Smith is made up of a premium, full-grain leather and will be available in either triple-black or triple-white iterations. The luxury upper smooths out the medial sides of the sneaker leaving only the three pin-hole length lines on its lateral sides indicating this is an adidas brainchild.
DSM’s monochromatic take on the Stan Smith has resulted in a blank canvas that is both familiar yet completely alien.
