Extra Butter and Diadora Celebrate Classic Horror with the S8000 “Giallo 2.0”

Extra Butter and Diadora are bridging the gap between sneakerheads and horror film fans with the release of the upcoming Diadora S8000 “Giallo 2.0” and the accompanying private label Extra Butter collection. The sneaker is the sequel to the duo’s 2016 effort and pays homage to a niche genre of Italian horror films from the 1970s.

“The term Giallo literally translates to yellow, which was originally a literary reference to yellow-colored paperbacks of Italian mystery novels in the 1930s that focused on themes that influenced a movement for Italian filmmakers decades later,” says Extra Butter Creative Director, Bernie Gross. “Unlike the classic American slashers that relied on gore and jump-scare tactics, Giallo films were more psychological and featured highly styled cinematography. The use of vivid colors that contrasted darker, macabre scenes became the inspiration for designing the S8000’s color story.”

Crafted in Italy, the silhouette pays utmost attention to craftsmanship and features a blend of premium quality pig suede and leather. The tongue is adorned with a geometric pattern that hardcore fans recognize as a deep-cut reference to Giallo films. The colorway blends shades of pink and purple and features Extra Butter branding on the left heel. The Extra Butter x Diadora “Giallo 2.0” will retail for $240.

The S8000 Giallo 2.0 will be exclusively launching at Extra Butter in-store Friday, January 27 at 11AM and online at extrabutterny.com on Saturday, January 28th at 9am EST.
