Zion Williamson was touted as one of the greatest prospects ever, starting as a teenager in South Carolina. His viral dunks, out-of-this-world athleticism, and humble demeanor made him the ideal player to become Jordan Brand’s first Gen Z signature athlete in 2019. Since then, he’s become a two-time All-Star and undoubtedly one of the best players in the league when he’s on the court. His signature sneaker line debuted in 2021 and signaled a youth movement from the Jordan Brand and set the stage for other young superstar signature sneakers from Jayson Tatum and Luka Doncic. The Zion 3 was just unveiled in Paris and is his sleekest design yet.
The Zion 3 focuses on three key performance pillars: containment, court feel, and impact protection. A Formula 23 foam drop-in midsole is used for cushioning, while a Zoom Air unit adds responsiveness to the forefoot. A drop-in midsole supports comfort and stability. The stack height is the lowest of any Zion signature silhouette and gives players cushion and helps them feel in control of their ground movements. Traction-wise, a rubber herringbone pattern helps enable quickness, and the “Z” logo comes to life on a raised TPU material and helps with lateral containment.
Zion’s “made it out of the mud” mindset influenced the upper pattern that uses a material and color splatter that was created using 3D imaging of Zion’s foot last launching through the mud. The Zion 3 “Mud, Sweat, and Tears” colorway is available now at jordan.com
