Jordan Brand’s Sustainable Fall 2020 “Crater Collection” Revealed

Building off the framework established by mainline Nike collections such as the Space Hippies, Jordan Brand’s latest collection promises to continue efforts towards sustainable, eco-friendly design. Releasing this Fall, the Jordan Crater Collection consists of three new models that all utilize recycled Nike Grind rubber in their midsoles and tread.

Leading the pack is a new model from the brand, the titular Jordan Crater. With the rest of the collection following in its footsteps, the OG colorway of the Jordan Crater is done in light grey synthetic suede composed out of recycled polyester threads from recycled water bottles. Thicker pieces of reinforced, canvas-like material add structure to the lacestays, tongue, and heel and are also composed out of 80 to 100 percent recycled polyester. Interior structural webbing is composed of 100% recycled Nylon. The main attraction aesthetic wise however has to be the eco-friendly, white and speckled”Crater Foam” midsole, a proprietary material made from a mixture of Zoom X, Nike foams, and ~12% NikeGrind rubber that results in a 100% recycled, sustainable form of cushioning.

A previously teased Jordan 1 High Zoom and a brand new Jordan Crater Slide are also dropping together in the inaugural collection. Both the AJ 1s and the Slides are composed out of the same recycled polyester, synthetic suede uppers and speckled Crater Foam uppers while the prior has the additional, full-length Zoom Air cushioning encapsulated in the midsole.
