Kanye West’s Ongoing Bout With Adidas

Kanye West’s anger with adidas has reached a boiling point. After accusing them of ripping off his designs with the adiFom Q, which interpolates the 2001 basketball shoe with a foam exoskeleton, Kanye West has aired out his full list of grievances with the Three Stripes via Instagram.

The superstar has once accused the brand of making decisions about the Yeezy executive team and approving colorways without his prior knowledge and permission. Though adidas has yet to respond publicly, West has promised to continue until a solution is met.

 In a now-deleted Instagram post sent on September 1, Kanye sent shots at the CEO of adidas Kasper Rørsted with a mock New York Times headline that falsely announced the CEO’s death. The headline also took pointed aim at his former collaborator Kid Cudi.

 Rørsted was far from the only member of the adidas team to draw West’s ire as he also took aim at the new SVP of adidas Daniel Cherry repeatedly calling him “Cherry Pop,” and alleged that he was the person in charge of making decisions without West’s input. Alongside Daniel Cherry, Kanye also posted the headshots of adidas supervisory board which he said were later removed by Instagram.



Kanye followed that up by iterating that it would cost adidas “billions” to get rid of him. He also mentioned that he would not be adhering to the seven-month waiting period outlined in the breach letter and that he would be looking to leave the brand immediately. 

Then Kanye went on to claim that adidas offered to buy him out of his contract for $1 billion dollars which he reportedly declined due to the fact that he is set to receive of $500 million in royalties alone next year. West also claimed that Yeezy account for a staggering 68% of adidas sales.
