UPDATE September 14: Nike has shared official details of the LeBron XXI. Built with the next generation in mind, LeBron’s 8-year-old daughter Zhuri was the muse for this design. The low-cut silhouette evolves the XX’s design and is modeled after the properties of an oyster shell. Tech-wise, the XXI features a Zoom Turbo unit in the forefoot, a bottom-loaded, 13-millimeter Zoom unit in the heel; and a full-length Cushlon 2.0 foam carrier.
LeBron is in rare air regarding the longevity of his signature sneaker. In fact, he’s the only player to pass the 20 mark while still active, and now we get a look at his 21st signature sneaker with Nike. LeBron took to Instagram to tease the shoe before giving us a more detailed look. Design-wise, the 21 looks like a natural evolution of the 20, which is a good sign for fans. The 20 was a bit of a revival for the King’s signature line, switching from the typically high and padded designs to a low-top.
The obvious comparison is to Nike Kobes, which helped popularize low-top performance models. Official tech specs have not been shared but expect more as the season approaches.
