Makeway, Canada’s first and only women-owned and operated sneaker, streetwear (and things) retailer has revealed their debut collaboration with the Swoosh.
The silhouette of choice is the Nike P-6000; a cult-classic model frequently advertised as the unofficial shoe of Makeway’s owners and staff. The theming is reminiscent of previous collaborations between the shop and the WNBA, however full inspiration behind the design is still unknown.
From early images, we can see a key design detail appears toward the heel of the shoe, where the traditional P-6000 branding is replaced with “PARTY 6000“, a nod to the store’s semi-annual community shindigs – which were aptly named after the Nike P-6000. No stranger to elite-levels of story-telling and attention to detail, Makeway has dressed the shoe box with nods to several Toronto-based institutions such as Cold Tea Bar. Also found on the box is the Greater Toronto area code 905 – where co-owner Abby Albino grew up (shoutout Sauga city), the Toronto area code, 416, where the shop is located; as well as the Nova Scotia area code, 902, where co-owner, Shelby Weaver is originally from.
This is the first footwear collaboration between Nike and a Canadian retailer since 2007 (the only other time was the Goodfoot x Nike SB “Strange Brew” Pack), the first non-SB Nike collaboration with a Canadian boutique ever, and the first ever collaboration on a P-6000. Hey Makeway, you dropped this 👑 .
Look for these to drop in store on the store’s fourth anniversary, November 20th, 2024; and at select retailers worldwide on November 22nd. Meet you at Makeway.
