Elephant Print Lands on This Upcoming New Balance 992

It wasn’t too long ago that New Balance reintroduced the world to the 992. Through collaborations and general releases, the silhouette ran up the scoreboard all 2020 and continues to have relevancy in 2021. The Boston-based brand has another 992 in the works with an animal print we’ve come accustomed to from another brand.

The upcoming New Balance 992 “Elephant” keeps it simple as an all-black leather upper with its signature mesh paneling is treated with elephant print on the shoe’s mudguard. The elephant print, popularized by Tinker Hatfield and the Air Jordan 3, has become as iconic as a shoe for the Nike and Jordan Brand lines. Now, New Balance repurposes the look. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen NB adopt some Jumpman flavor. As we tackled in Unboxed Issue 49, the brand isn’t shy to take flight.

The New Balance 992 “Elephant” is set to have a wider release in October at select retailers and NewBalance.com for $190. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
