An In-Hand Look and Review of the New Balance TWO WXY “Sonics”

New Balance Basketball is changing the game. With the additions of Kawhi Leonard, Dejounte Murray, Darius Bazley, Jamal Murray, and others, the legendary brand is reentering the hoops world with stars.

The brand has reenergized its on-court presence with performance models such as the OMN1S, the KAWHI 1, and the TWO WXY. We had a chance to get an in-hand look to test out the New Balance TWO WXY in the “Sonics” colorway thanks to Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The TWO WXY is engineered to meet the demands of any player at any level. Its full-length FUELCELL technology provides a bouncy and responsive feel. The synthetic leather and small hits of suede on the pair stay true to New Balance’s premium look and feel we’ve all come to expect from the Boston-based brand.

The Kinetic stitch upper brings a nice layer to the shoe and helps provide a lockdown feel as well. Despite the extremely thin tongue, the entry and exit of the shoe were fluid and didn’t need much breaking in. As for the outsole and traction, a solid gum bottom encapsulates the translucent portion of the outsole, which lets you see the shoe’s torsion design.

Having only hooped in the pair outdoors, the New Balance TWO WXY was light and fast and a great option for hoops fans. The “Sonics” colorway was also executed perfectly with the knit upper making it look as great as it performed.

The New Balance TWO WXY “Sonics” is available at Dick’s Sporting Goods, and NewBalance.com for $140.
