Caitlin Clark inking a long-term deal with Nike isn’t all that surprising, considering the all-time Division 1 basketball points leader got all her buckets while wearing the Swoosh. She wasn’t just playing in team-issued kicks, either. The Indiana Fever rookie had an NIL deal with Nike and also received pairs of Nike Kobe Protros directly from the Bryant family. Despite her clear preference for Nikes, other brands stepped in to lure her away. According to the Wall Street Journal, Under Armour and adidas also pitched the star. Ultimately, Nike offered a signature deal that trumped Under Armour’s 4-year, $16 million, and adidas’ 4-year, $6 million deal. While all three brands were prepared to give her a signature sneaker, Nike’s deal was said to be 8 years for up to $28 million. The contract is the largest ever for a women’s basketball player.
