Devin Booker’s Nike “Book 1” Signature Sneaker Has A Release Date

UPDATE February 5, 2023: After a lengthy rollout that included Devin Booker seemingly agreeing that Nike had mishandled his signature sneaker debut, the Book 1 finally has a release date. The Arizona-inspired “Mirage” colorway drops on February 17. The official campaign video features a star-studded cast of Nike, basketball, and Phoenix royalty, including famed sneaker designer Wilson Smith, WNBA legend Diana Taurasi, and current and former Suns stars Shawn Marion and Kevin Durant.

UPDATE September 14: Nike officially welcomed Devin Booker to the signature sneaker family. The Book 1 took inspiration from Booker’s personal style and taste to create an on-court sneaker that offers lateral stability, cushioning, and responsiveness underfoot. The tech specs include a Cushlon 2.0 foam midsole with a rigid TPU sidewall for added support, with a top-loaded Nike Zoom air bag in the heel. The upper is made of a workwear-inspired canvas and twill for durability, and a suede collar and genuine leather across the forefoot give it a broken-in feel. The pull tab on the heel was inspired by a book spine.

The Nike Book 1 releases in Spring 2024 in two signature colorways.

UPDATE September 3: Devin Booker has begun to officially roll out his debut signature sneaker. In clips posted to Instagram, the Phoenix Suns star chronicles the process of creating his first sneaker, including criticism after it leaked, wear testing sessions, and showing it to friends like J Cole, Jamal Crawford, Drake, Mister Cartoon, and even Nike Co-Founder Phil Knight. The latest glimpse of the sneaker came when Drake performed in it during the Phoenix stop of his “IAAB” tour. Nike and Booker gifted Drake a pair in a custom “For All The Dogs” case as a nod to his upcoming album.

The sneaker world has known that Devin Booker was next in line to get a signature sneaker from Nike for some time now. Now, Sneaker News gives us a first look at the Nike BOOK1. The sales sample shows a clean mid-silhouette with toebox panels resembling 1980s Nike Basketball icons like the Air Force and Air Jordan 1. The upper of this black/gold colorway appears to have pony hair or another textured material on the upper, along with “BOOK” on the tongue, his birth year of “96” on the heel tab, and a translucent outsole.

Additionally, a second Devin Booker silhouette has been revealed by Sneaker News. The “Craftsman” model is a lowcut design with a neoprene upper and “Book” on the top ace eyelet. Given Booker’s love for NikeCraft x Tom Sachs collaborations, this could be inspired by the popular series.

The Nike BOOK1 is expected to release in 2024.
