We’re only two years removed from the last time Nike re-released the Air More Uptempo, but the upcoming remake will be the closest to its original form.
Scottie Pippen has been the face of the Nike Air More Uptempo for decades, but they aren’t considered one of his signature shoes. According to Pippen, Nike considers the Air More Uptempo a “statement-level shoe.”
Even though it wasn’t an official signature shoe, the Nike Air More Uptempo will always be linked to @ScottiePippen.

The silhouette isn’t listed as one of Pippen’s signature sneakers, but ‘90s basketball fans remember the All-NBA forward won the 1996 NBA Championship while wearing the sneakers.
This year, Nike tweaks the Air More Uptempo, bringing the silhouette closer to the OG that was released in 1996. The materials are nearly identical to the 2016 and 2020 re-release, which consisted of black nubuck.
However, there are three main differences between the OG and 2016/2020 versions. The white trim around the AIR branding is thicker on the upcoming model, and the Swoosh on the heel is black on this year’s pair. On top of that, the Air unit looks taller on the updated model. You can check out the differences in the images below; the shoe on the left was released in 2016/2020, and the one on the right is coming out this year.
Between re-releases, Nike unveiled an Air More Uptempo slide.
The Nike Air More Uptempo OG is expected to release before the end of the year. Retail is set at $160. Stay tuned for an official release date.
