In 1987, Tinker Hatfield designed the Air Trainer 1. Debuted by John McEnroe and adopted by the culture after that, the Trainer 1 in its original “Chlorophyll” colorway changed the game.
Last summer, the one & only John Gotty penned why the Trainer 1 was due for an energetic retro run. Though the Travis Scott x Nike Air Trainer collabs might be on hold, the Swoosh still has plans up its sleeve for the shoe’s 35th anniversary.
Nike is bringing back the Nike Air Trainer 1 “Chlorophyll” colorway, mirroring the OG version with its white leather upper, grey nubuck overlays, and black details on the Swooshes& signature midfoot strap. Additionally, the green details land on the tongue and eyelets. In 2020, Nike released the “Chlorophyll” in SB form with a Dunk Low homage surfacing recently.
The Nike Air Trainer 1 “Chlorophyll” releases for $120 on May 20 on SNKRS and select retailers soon. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
