Nike has begun its long-rumored lay-off strategy across the company. Nike’s layoffs have been part of a months’ long plan to create a “flatter, nimbler” company. “While we are not providing numbers, the changes are expected to lead to a net loss of jobs, which is always difficult,” Nike said in a statement. According to an article by The Oregonian/Oregon Live, internal information regarding which departments would be getting cut and by what extent has been very sparse leading employees to anonymously share their personal experiences and knowledge via sites such as thelayoff.com. It is understood that the company is laying off staff beginning at the upper levels of its hierarchy, with other 100 vice president positions having been let go earlier this summer.
