Nike Unveils BHM Collection with National Grants & Product

Since 2005, Nike has been celebrating Black history through product and storytelling tied to its annual Black History Month collections.

The 2022 Black History Month collection is no different as the brand is releasing a Nike Air Force 1 Low FM By You, with three distinct versions designed by Black creators. In addition to the Air Force 1, Nike, Inc. has announced the 2022 national and local grantees for Nike, Inc.’s $140 million Black Community Commitment, which invests in organizations focused on social justice, education innovation, and economic opportunity for Black people.

The new national grantee recipients include Son of A Saint, All Star Code, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and Equal Justice Initiative, focused on social justice reform. The investments total $2.75 million across 44 organizations nationwide in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Portland, Memphis, St. Louis, and Boston.

To coincide with the AF1 and the grants, the Nike Future Movement Broadcast will be launching a new episode on February 22. Led by global civil rights advocate Janaya Future Khan, the FM Broadcast series focuses on elevating diverse, visionary voices who are driving change and creating a better future for their community. Episode 5 of the series will feature Olympians Simone Manuel, Ibtihaj Muhammad, and Dr. John Carlos, who will discuss the systemic and personal intersections of sport and activism with Janaya.
