Nike has announced its latest apparel capsule geared towards women dubbed, “Swoosh Fly”. The team at Nike Basketball describes the collection as: “a women’s-specific apparel capsule [which] channels the emotional connection that players have with “standard issue” gear and designs them for the female body.” Check out the full collection here.
The women’s oriented collection is built with the physical needs of women athletes in mind, including the addition of larger hoods on hoodies to accommodate buns and longer hair and reshaping basketball shorts with wider legs openings, a higher rise, and tighter waist, unlike ill-fitting men’s shorts. The collection includes a range of apparel including a pair of special edition shorts with a pattern inspired by the classic 1989 Nike ad, “Who said woman was not meant to fly.” Other items include sweatpants, hoodies, penny jerseys, t-shirts, and leggings, all designed with the comfort and proportions of women athletes in mind.
The full collection drops July 10th, just in time for the return of the WNBA season in the following weeks.
