The Nike Dunk Low “Doernbecher” is Coming Soon

The Nike & Doernbecher partnership has become one of the most anticipated days in sneakers. For years, OHSU Doernbecher Childrenâ€s Hospital patients have created works of art with some of the most prestigious silhouettes in the Swoosh family.

This year, Zoe Taaffe is taking on the Dunk Low. Zoe was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that causes severe inflammation of the blood vessels —  only one in 1.2 million pediatric patients have the rare disease. But that isn’t stopping Zoe. If anything, it’s motivating her.

The Nike Dunk Low “Doernbecher” features various details and interchangeable features with the “one in a million” motif found on the Swoosh. The zebra pattern (inspired by the stretch marks that the disease leaves you with) and use of green & yellow pay homage to Zoe’s undeniable strength and resilience as well as the Doernbecher legacy within Oregon.

“Iâ€ve always loved the medical field, and originally I wanted to be a surgeon,” Zoe said. “But after being in the hospital, I decided that I want to be a nurse. My nursing team has a special place in my heart because they really showed me the meaning of kindness and compassion. Thatâ€s the kind of positivity Iâ€d like to bring to the medical field.”

The Nike Dunk Low “Doernbecher” releases on April 30 for $100 on SNKRS and select retailers. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
