Following its March decision to pause business in Russia, the Swoosh has now told Reuters that it will begin its full exit from the country. Competitors like adidas and Puma already ceased business due to the ongoing war with Ukraine. The motivation for Nikes and others to officially exit comes in anticipation of new laws that will give Russia increased power, including seizing assets and imposing criminal penalties. Russia was home to 116 Nike stores as well as Nike-branded stores operated by partners.
