Ja Morant has paid his dues as a Nike athlete. In his debut season, he and A’ja Wilson headed up the launch of the Nike Adapt BB and followed up with its successor. After a deep playoff run and bringing home the Most Improved Player award, the Memphis Grizzlies star point guard was rewarded with his own signature shoe, the Nike Ja 1, which he debuted on Christmas Day.
The first announced colorway is the Nike Ja 1 “Day One” which features a blue ballistic mesh base with leather overlays and a yellow-to-pink gradient wraparound TPU Swoosh that also serves as a heel tab. “12” appears on the medial side, hidden in the perforations at the secured midfoot, and the lateral outrigger forms a J shape. His daughter’s name is found on the midsole while his hand-written notes appear throughout, including the insole that Ja dedicates to his “Day Ones,” including his haters. “12 AM” appears on the heel counter, which represents Ja’s motto of “working in the dark.”
The Nike Ja 1 “Day One” is set to release in Spring 2023 for $110 via Nike and select retailers.
