Report: Nike Plans To Fire Unvaccinated WHQ Employees

According to a report from OregonLiveNike has informed some employees that they will be fired later this week for failing to comply with the company’s December 1, 2021 deadline for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. While legal obstacles have halted mandatory government-issued mandates, companies like Nike can still move forward with mandatory policies for employees. “You failed to complete the verification process and our records show that you do not have an approved (exemption). As a result, you are not in compliance with the Policy and your employment is scheduled to be terminated on Saturday, January 15, 2022.”

Most Nike WHQ employees have been working remotely since March 2020, but this mandate hints at the company’s desire for employees to return to the office soon. The report also states that fellow Oregon-based company Columbia Sportswear is taking similar action against unvaccinated employees.
