Art collective MSCHF is being sued by Nike over their “Satan Shoes“. The shoes in question are a pair of Nike Air Max 97s customized by the MSCHF team in collaboration with artist Lil Nas X and feature a mixture of 60cc red ink and a single drop of human blood inside the midsole Air unit. 666 numbered pairs were released, each retailing for $1,018 and promptly selling out early this morning.
While Nike often turns a blind-eye to customs of their products, this particular release has been drawing the ire of many online who believe these to be an official Nike project. Furthermore, similar to last year’s debacle over designer Warren Lotas’ Dunk lookalikes, MSCHF has made a substantial profit off this controversial release.
Further details and updates regarding the lawsuit to follow as they become available.
