By leveraging the popularity of the upcoming sacai x Nike Waffle LDV Nylon Chicago fashion retailer Notre has teamed up with two local charities – the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Gotham Greens – in order to combat its city’s hunger problem in a wholly unique way.
In order to gain a raffle ticket to purchase the highly anticipated sneakers, Notre asks that participants donate two pieces of shelf-stable food over the next three days which will go to the GCFD, a prominent food bank. Larger donations are welcome but will not result in extra raffle entries.
Furthermore, Gotham Greens, a company that specializes in locally-grown, indoor agriculture, has also committed to matching each donation (up to 2,400 raffles) with a head of fresh lettuce for the GCFD. This is a beautiful way of using the hype around sneaker culture for positive, communal change who’s influence is hopefully felt across other retailers as well.
