One of the most interactive drops of the year just got a little more interesting.
Tom Sachs just concluded his I.S.R.U Summer camp, which consisted of daily challenges, tasks, and rituals curated by Tom himself. Each of these tasks awarded participants with points. Those who ended the camp with the most points were allowed to purchase the sneaker, or even pre-order them.
Now that camp has concluded, retailers are expected to launch the sneaker. Currently, the drop date is scheduled for September 19th. As retailers have begun opening their raffles for this coveted release, we have come to learn something big.
Some of the participating boutiques are expected to enforce the I.S.R.U. point system for their releases. Nike has told retailers that they may limit the purchase of the Mars Yard 3.0 to campers who have accumulated a certain amount of points in the app. Some boutiques have made it a requirement to have earned a certain number of points to participate, while others have opted for simply showing proof of an account.
Union Tokyo’s in-store raffle launch will open to those holding 500 or more points. That said, Haven will host a one-day in-store raffle on Thursday, September 18th at both HAVEN Vancouver and HAVEN Toronto. Participants must download the NikeCraft I.S.R.U. App in advance and provide their ISRU identification number and username when entering.
This unique release strategy is, naturally, already causing a lot of reaction. It will be interesting to see how many more retailers follow Nike’s recommendation.
