Since PUMA Hoops’ resurgence onto the scene, the brand has made a strong push with its marquee athletes, celebrities, and collaborators. As the brand continues to blend streetwear & hoops, the brand and PUMA athlete RJ Barrett teamed up for a one-of-a-kind collection, voted on by the fans.
The RJ Barrett x PUMA “Made Different” hoodie was designed in two colorways, inspired by Maple Michael Jordan’s journey to the league, his integration into the PUMA family, and his role with the New York Knicks.
Following the fan vote, the “Made Different” hoodie was made available in a clean black, blue, & red colorway inspired by Barrett’s Canadian roots.

SoleSavy: The collection embraces your roots & your work ethic. After a few years in the league, how have you seen your play style change?
RJ Barrett: Being smarter! Knowing when to pull up, knowing when to make the pass. Not just going to the rim and being aggressive every time. Being more technical and efficient on the court. Truly understanding my role on the team.
SS: You were part of the second PUMA signee class since the brand’s reentry to the hardwood. What’s it been like being a member of the brand?
RJ: It’s been fun! Being a part of the PUMA Fam has been an amazing journey so far. They are always looking out for me, and truly understand the importance of my footwear needs and how critical it is to my performance on the court. I’m happy to be a part of the PUMA Fam.
SS: The fan vote aspect of the collection was different from the brand. What was it like to see the final result from the fans?
RJ: Getting the fans involved was fun. I was excited to see the results come in, the winning hoodie that the fans picked was my favorite too. I have one on today! It was cool seeing that the fans have similar taste. It was exciting to see the fans really engaging and the votes growing daily during the process. The whole process was amazing, and I hope we can do it again.
SS: What’s it like for you to be a member of the PUMA family and have your own apparel collection?
RJ: It’s a blessing! PUMA had some amazing collaborations and have worked with so many different people from all industries. Who wouldn’t be honored to be in that category? I’ve been a part of this entire creative process and this collab means a lot to me. It’s made different, just like me.
SS: What else can we expect from you & PUMA? Lifestyle shoes? Maybe a signature?
RJ: We have a lot of exciting projects in the works. Keep an eye out for some new apparel and PE colors on the way.
