Nike and RTFKT officially team up in the Metaverse. The integration into web3 from the Swoosh comes after a series of acquisitions, trademarks, and even a lawsuit. Within the past few months, Nike has made its plans for the new digital frontier evident.

In December 2020, Nike acquired RTFKT Studios in an effort to combine sneakers, gaming, and culture. Less than a week ago, Nike filed a lawsuit in federal court against StockX and its NFT sales.

RTFKT Studios and Nike have finally released their first NFT with the “MNLTH” drop. Airdropped exclusively to Clone X and PodX holders, the NFT is as ominous as it was heavily anticipated.

The co-branded NFT is built with a dark metallic look with various patterns carved into it. The Nike Swoosh and RTFKT logos shine on the box, which houses an unknown object.

This is just the beginning of what RTFKT and Nike have in-store, especially with Nike’s plans of a virtual division, which was leaked through an internal email. According to the company-wide email, the virtual studios in Los Angeles and New York City will “build a focused team dedicated to building Nike, Inc.’s virtual products and experiences.”
