The sacai x Nike Blazer Low is this Summer’s Accessible Hit

While we’ve sung the praises of sacai in the past, never before has the brand been so accessible. Founder Chitose Abe’s inimitable, experimental style has managed to penetrate the mainstream in a big way with her brand’s fabulous Nike footwear collaborations. None, however, have as been as widely available and versatile as their most recent, the sacai x Nike Blazer Low.

Applying the same deconstructionist design language of mainline sacai onto reconfigured Nike silhouettes has proven a massive success for founder Chitose Abe’s label and the Blazer Low is the most wide-reaching offering from the duo so far.

While previous projects like the LDV Waffle from 2019 and the more recent VaporWaffle took over our social media feeds and landed at the top of many folks’ Sneaker of the Year lists, the limited availability – and subsequent exorbitant resell prices – made those shoes very difficult to buy for anyone not equipped with the know-how.

All the hallmarks of a great sacai project are present in the affordably priced and better-stocked sacai x Nike Blazer Low: exposed foam, double-layered tongues + laces in contrasting materials and colors and the signature multi-stacked midsole. Having already been released in bright “Classic Green” and “Magma Orange”, subtle “Iron Grey”, and a more recent autumnal “British Tan” brown, the hope with this collaboration is that there’s something for everyone here.

As a (literally) lowcut shoe, the Blazer Low collab has a more toned-down approach to sacai’s usual in-your-face style of elevated footwear, making it an easier entry point into the brand’s unique style. SoleSavy member Daylan W. echoes this sentiment:  “I think the silhouette is great. The “Iron Grey” and “British Khaki” colors are really nice, though I wasn’t a fan of two original colors with the grey/green and white/orange. The materials are really solid, good quality. Sacai designs aren’t for everyone, they are weird. But for the people that are really into fashion, they’ll dig it and it’s a crazy entry-level price point for a sacai piece. People are sleeping.”

While the wilder colorways including a recently teased collaboration with artist KAWS will definitely become the center of your outfit, the more muted tones of the “British Tan” and “Iron Grey “colorways provide enough of a lowkey flex to elevate your wardrobe without taking attention away from your whole fit. With the KAWS collab sure to increase mainstream hype for this model in a big way, there’s no better time than now to get in on this lowkey banger before it inevitably sells out again.
