This is Why You Shouldn’t Pay Resell Too Early

Do not buy resell prior to a drop, or the same weekend of release. Ever. That is my #1 rule and it will not fail you. Especially right now with all the restocks and uncertainty in the market.

I sent this message to a few members but here it is for everyone:

To put it simply, the market is dictated by who has pairs in hand. The fewer people with pairs in hand to ship, the higher the price. So buying early means you are paying a premium to buy from someone who has a connect to get a pair early and sell it early.

Once all pairs have shipped and are available to sell the price always goes down. Usually the best time to buy is about a week after release. But because of COVID, shipping is taking even longer and now the best time to buy tends to be 2 weeks post-release.

I have not once in the past 2 years seen a shoes price be the cheapest before release. It’s like the stock market, you have to time it right. There will be exceptions to this rule like Strangelove Dunks but they will be rare so please be patient.

The last time I broke this rule was the OW Jordan 5. I thought it was so exclusive because of Chicago only + SNKRS so I paid $1000 USD. I even ignored my own advice to @JLP to NOT buy lol. The chart below shows pricing. Pre-release, $1500, release weekend $1000, dips to $750, rises to $900 and at one point hits as low as $680.  If I hate waited 6 weeks I would have saved $320 USD. Knowing my self I would have copped at $750 which still saves me $250.

With all this said, I have made a new channel called #marketcheck in Slack. If you like analyzing the market trends and helping members save money, join it! If you have questions about if you should buy resell yet or when, join the channel! I know I enjoy projecting and pricing the market so I’ll dive in there on the reg.
