Uniqlo tapped Japanese outdoors-brand White Mountaineering for a small collection. Mostly known for their excellent outerwear, White Mountaineering brings their expertise to a broader audience, and with Uniqlo’s resources, at a much affordable price. Parkas are pretty much expected once these two names are brought up, and they came through with top-notch offerings in both a heavyweight parka, as well as a liner-styled lightweight version. Of course, the piece de resistance (pieces in this case), are the fleece offerings. Fleece has been a cold-weather wardrobe staple for many, and White Mountaineering has absolutely delivered on these.
There are two versions, a zip-up jacket that’s reminiscent of the highly-praised Engineered Garments collaboration from a few years ago. The other is a pullover piece that has limitless coziness written all over it.
With such a popular item that’s been adopted by so many brands in the last few years, it’s been harder and harder to produce a unique fleece, but this collaboration did just that. And to top it all off, both fleeces add up to just under $100 – that’s insane value. If you somehow passed on the Engineered Garments fleece from a few years back, I hope you don’t make the same mistake with these ones.
