Tracy McGrady Says His Relationship with adidas is “Rocky”

After more than two decades of partnership with the Three Stripes, Hall of Fame basketball player Tracy McGrady could potentially be parting ways with Adidas. At the Hashtag Sports conference in Las Vegas on July 14, T-Mac candidly stated that he felt that the book was closing on his time with Adidas, calling the status of their partnership “rocky” and stating “I think we’re coming to an end.”

Expanding on that thought he went on to say “the treatment that I’ve gotten for them over the last ten years, I deserve better.” The Tracy McGrady and Adidas union dates all the way back to the ABCD camp that catapulted T-Mac into an NBA Lottery Pick in 1997.

Tracy McGrady drove the Three Stripes alongside Kobe Bryant during his ascension to superstardom and multiple scoring titles in the 2000s. He went on to have 6 signature silhouettes with adidas and retros of his first three silhouettes continue to release regularly in America since his retirement in 2017.

McGrady says his feeling of being undervalued came from adidas rebuffing the idea of his Ones Basketball League after investing heavily into Ice Cube’s Big 3 league years prior.

The discussion with Hashtag Sports wasn’t the only time he discussed his deal with adidas recently, he said in an interview with Sports IllustratedI actually think we could be doing bigger and better things if I had the support behind me from my partners – Adidas.”

T-Mac has since doubled down on the remarks by reposting a video of the conversation on his Twitter account.

If partnership does indeed fizzle out it could be entirely possible for the T-Mac line to be renamed much as the Adidas Kobe line has been.  Stay tuned for more information on this turn of events.
