UNION LA has officially announced their full Air Jordan collection coming out on August 29th. The full collaboration will consist of the previously leaked Union x Air Jordan 4 “Off-Noir” and “Guava Ice” as well as two newly unveiled models, an AJ Delta Mid “Off-Noir” and AJ Zoom ’92 “Guava Ice”. A matching apparel collection will be dropping as well.
The AJ 4 “Guava Ice” will be a UNION LA exclusive while the three other pairs will release both at store.unionlosangeles.com and select retailers worldwide. One unique design element behind the AJ4s not previously touched upon is that the shorter stitching on the shorter tongues can be easily removed in order to show off a full-size, silver, inverted AJ 4 tongue with a Jumpman and UNION LA co-branded tag now appearing on the exterior. “Back in the day, I had always liked to wear my [Air Jordan] IV’s with a short tongue, so I would fold them over themselves and tie them down”, writes UNION LA founder Chriss Gibbs in his description of the collab.
The new additions – the AJ Delta Mid and AJ Zoom ’92 – are replete with their own set of unique characteristics. Both pairs colorways are inspired by their AJ 4 predecessors, with the UNION exclusive “Guava Ice” coloring the Zoom ’92 and “Off-Noir” informing the Delta Mid. This collaboration also marks the first time Jordan Brand has ever released the Delta silhouette in a mid-length cut. Then there’s the Zoom ’92, whose inclusion in the collab is based on Gibb’s love of the three sneakers from 1992 which inspired its original design:the AJ 7, Air Max 180, and Air Force 5. By combining elements from the timeless look of the 7s, with the recently reissued AM 180s, and the oft-neglected AF 5s, Gibbs has constructed a mid-cut basketball sneaker that flows effortlessly into anyone’s day to day style. All four styles will come packaged in a special edition, cream-colored shoebox with a “Union” logo, and a cropped photograph of Michael Jordan’s arms releasing a jump shot emblazoned on the lid.
