Upcoming Air Jordan 1 High Zoom “Space Hippie” Made from Recycled Materials

While not debuting alongside the rest of its recycled counterparts, the unreleased Air Jordan 1 High Zoom “Space Hippie” is sure to be a fan favorite when it does eventually drop. Made up of recycled materials from Nike’s cutting room floor, nearly everything from its rubber mid and outsoles, the woollike upper, and all stitching are composed of waste scraps from previous Nike sneaker productions.

The midsole is made up of “Crater Foam”, a proprietary material made from a mixture of Zoom X, Nike foams, and NikeGrind rubber that results in a 100% recycled, sustainable form of cushioning. The black and grey toned upper is knit from polyester yarns manufactured from recycled Nike t-shirts and yarn scraps as well as plastic water bottles. A full-length Zoom Air unit is placed inside the midsole for the added comfort and response the AJ 1 Zooms are known for. A “ZOOM” branded tag underneath the lace collar, “Nike Zoom” branding on the tongue, and an exposed foam collar complete the latest Space Hippie look.

The shoe is rumored to release August 12th for $170 USD.
