Converse x A-COLD-WALL* Has Entered the Summer Sandal Chat

By Michael Saintil

With the overwhelming success of the adidas Yeezy Foam Runner and the Croc Pollex Clog by Salehe Bembury, it is safe to say that many footwear enthusiasts are putting comfort ahead of storytelling. The footwear industry is starting to cater to those who aren’t tied to classic sportswear and performance-specific models. With that in mind, Converse has come together again with A- COLD-WALL*’s Samuel Ross to introduce the Sponge Crater.

Not only is it visually interesting but also technically crafted. The Sponge Crater uses Converse’s revolutionary CX foam, essentially molded into one egg-shaped silhouette surrounding the wearer’s foot, to provide traction and comfort. To top it off, this futuristic design has a flat-mesh upper and spandex collar to improve breathability, not to mention pull tabs and a sleek heel to assist with entry and removal.

As summer quickly approaches and the foam wars continue with images of the Nike X Matthew M. Williams Clog soon to arrive, we hope to see much more of the bold and innovative designs that Converse and ACW* have to unleash onto the market.

This marks A-COLD-WALL* and Converse’s second collaboration this year using CX technology.

Releasing June 23rd on converse.coma-cold-wall.com, and select retailers.

Available July 7th on the Nike SNKRS app.
