The Air Jordan 5 “Dunk on Mars” Heads to the Red Planet

The Air Jordan 5 is one of His Airness’ most famed silhouettes thanks to its bold tongue and WW2 fighter plane-inspired design. Jordan Brand’s upcoming Air Jordan 5 WMNS “Dunk on Mars” takes inspiration from Spike Lee’s iconic Air Jordan character Mars Blackmon and the red planet.

The colorway is evocative of the famed Air Jordan 5, albeit with a bit more of an earthy tone. Whereas the Toro Bravo features a bold red throughout the sneaker, the upcoming Air Jordan 5 WMNS “Dunk on Mars” comes with a more dusty red and yellowed accents on the plastic portions like the side cage, lace lock, and semi-translucent outsole. Even the sneaker’s signature shark teeth have an aged, fading look to them. 23 embroidery on the lateral heel and the Air Jordan 5’s staple reflective tongue complete the look.

The Air Jordan 5 WMNS “Dunk on Mars” is set to release on January 14 for $200 via Nike and select retailers.
