Charlotte Lab School x Asics GEL-LYTE V “Eternal Summer” Release Info

Thereâ€s nothing better about school than the summertime and the kids at Charlotte Lab School know that all too well. As a school tailored to new learning experiences and innovative hands-on practices, Charlotte Lab School was the perfect place to partner up with Asics and the famed Whitaker Group. 

The upcoming Asics Gel-Lyte V “Eternal Summer” is designed and inspired by students from the school. The two colorways, yellow and gray, are limited to 1500 pairs of each colorway and came to fruition as a part of a one-of-a-kind student-led education program powered by The Whitaker Group and Asics.

Over the course of the school year, Charlotte Lab School students logged in weekly to a virtual learning platform where they met, learned, and collaborated with team leads in Design, Marketing, Brand, Merchandising, Sales, and Creative from both The Whitaker Group and Asics. Through resilience and incredible team effort, the process of designing the “Endless Summer” GEL-LYTE V came to fruition, led by students applying the very skills they were learning in the program.

The Asics x Charlotte Lab School “Eternal Summer” GEL-LYTE V are inspired by the students†love for summer and the energy of the seasonal break they want to carry with them year-round throughout the school year. The shades used for the Yellow and Grey colorways are meant to evoke the sunrise and sunset and the colors on the playground, respectively. Both pairs include hairy suede detailing, custom insoles, and boxes designed by the students and numbered. The Grey colorway is highlighted by cloudy grey and green accents, while the vibrant Yellow colorway is accented with blue. 

Students were also involved in every aspect of this pack launching to the world – from working with The Whitaker Groupâ€s Design and Creative teams to execute the campaign and launch, to learning how to launch the product with the Operations teams in a newly-designed in-school store built out by The Whitaker Group and inaugurated for this project. The launch will be marked with a launch celebration at beSocial Charlotte on 12.16 featuring a panel with Charlotte Lab School students and Asics team.

The Charlotte Lab School x Asics GEL-LYTE V  “Eternal Summer” drops at Social Status online and in-stores on December 17. The retail price has been set at $140.
