Naomi Osaka has been tapping into different industries from fashion to beauty. That being said, the tennis star has recently launched her skincare line KINLÃ’ which she can add to her list of accolades.Â
Osaka wanted to bury the myth that those with darker skin donâ€
Skincare, such as sunscreen, is mainly made with ingredients that leave white casts on the face discouraging people of color from using it. Sun protective ads often lack photos of dark skin leading to skin conditions such as skin cancer in people of color.
The athlete teamed up with dermatologists to formulate SPF 50 that does not leave white casts behind, blocks UVA and UVB rays, and features a bronzy tint that blends in seamlessly. There are additional skincare products that soothe sun-exposed skin and tackle age spots and discoloration.
Though there are many celebrity beauty brands, KINLÃ’ stands out from the crowd as Osaka provides a product that fills a gap in the market for the underserved. We look forward to seeing what she has in store for the brand.Â
