Kyrie Irving’s Nike Kyrie 8 Removed From Stores

FILE - Brooklyn Nets' Kyrie Irving speaks before the team's NBA basketball game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Oct. 19, 2022, in New York. The Nets are suspending Irving for at least five games without pay, saying they were dismayed by his failure to “unequivocally say he has no antisemitic beliefs.” Hours after Irving refused to issue the apology that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver sought for posting a link to an antisemitic work on his Twitter feed, the Nets said that Irving is “currently unfit to be associated with the Brooklyn Nets.” (AP Photo/Frank Franklin II, File)

The Kyrie Irving controversy continues. After his suspension for promoting an antisemitic documentary and subsequently having his upcoming Kyrie 8 sneaker canceled by the Swoosh, it looks like Nike is intent on pulling Kyrie’s sneakers from the shelves. A series of emails from Nike instructing retailers to remove Kyrie’s sneakers from displays have surfaced.  The email specifically refers to the Kyrie 8 and states that “all other Kyrie products can continue to be sold until further notice.”

After a long-standing bout with Nike that began with Kyrie’s dislike of the Kyrie Infinity, it looks like Irving’s days as a member of the Nike family are coming to a close. It has been widely rumored that the Kyrie 8 would be Kyrie’s final silhouette with the brand and in the wake of his controversial actions, it seems that rumors are true. Kyrie has had a signature sneaker with Nike since 2014.
