The latest chapter in the iconic Air Max Line is here.
The Dn8, which will arrive in time for Air Max Day, is Nike’s latest experiment into footwear cushioning.
Where the Dn8 stands out, though, is that the Dn8 will be the first sneaker to feature the Dynamic Air techonology throughout the full length of the foot. With the goal being to offer a “new expression of how it feels to walk on Air”. The Dn8 is the natural successor to the Air Max Dn, and thus will inherit the same pressure response technology.
Jonathan Kosenick, lead designer of Men’s Sportswear for Nike, explained that a change wanted for the Dn8 was to ensure it was “lower to the ground. We wanted to feel more Air. We wanted to improve transition”. The result of that goal lead to designing a shoe “with eight Air chambers directly in contact with the ground, which allows the chambers to more effectively compress and be way more flexible, delivering a much bouncier, springier sensation that channels a Nike performance footwear approach into a shoe you want to wear every day”.
A soft breathable upper will compliment the Dynamic Air technology. The idea being to replicate the classic feeling of the Air Max models that paved the way for the Air Max Dn8. “We wanted to build a shoe that had the same sort of, ‘go anywhere, do anything’ character — an impulsivity, a versatility that will perform under any circumstance by harnessing the capabilities of Dynamic Air”, explained Kosenick.
The Air Max Dn8 will debut in a Hyper Pink colorway on SNKRS on February 6th. A second red colorway will launch on March 6th, with additional colorways launching in full family sizes after that.
