Nike’s commitment to inclusivity continues with its annual tradition of the N7, inspired by the athletes, creators, and cultural game-changers of the seven generations within the Native American and Indigenous communities.
Since the N7 Fund’s inauguration in 2009, it has awarded more than $8 million in grants, administered by the Charities Aid Foundation of America, to more than 270 communities and organizations.
This year’s N7 collection draws inspiration from the cultural traditions of the northern territories and the significance of basketball for Native folks. The collection is headlined by the Nike Air Max 95, Nike Kyrie Low 5, the Nike Free Crater Trail Moc, and a range of apparel.
The N7 collection includes graphic and creative elements that celebrate local art and traditions:
- A graphic inspired by natural dying processes is applied to footwear and some apparel pieces celebrating the traditional knowledge of natural dye methods utilizing berries
- Taping details and colors on footwear and apparel pieces that nod to traditional ribbon skirts and weaving techniques and recognize the craftsmanship and detailing by Indigenous women who wear them at ceremonies and other important events
- Seven arrow graphic signifies the seven generations
- N7 logo and manifesto that reads, “In every deliberation we must consider the impact to the next seven generations”
- Basketball hoop illustration that honors how the sport has become a modern expression of Indigenous identity and a bond for families and tribes as well as a way to stay active and bring youth into sport
The Nike N7 collection releases on June 21 on Nike.com, SNKRS, and select retailers. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
