According to multiple reports, PUMA CEO Bjørn Gulden is stepping down from his position after leading the team for nearly a decade. Gulden, the former professional soccer player, had lead the footwear and apparel company since 2013 before deciding not to renew his contract with the company.

“My current contract with Puma ends [Dec. 31] and after 9 years I have decided not to renew,” Gulden said in a statement to Footwear News. “I have had nine great years with the Puma family, and I am very proud of what we have achieved together.” CE

Rumors are stirring that Gulden is joining adidas which is currently searching for a new CEO after it was announced that current CEO Kasper Rorsted would be leaving the company in 2023. Rorsted lead the company since 2016. When asked about the rumors swirling around, Gulden replied  “You need to talk to Adi[das] about that,” he told reporters. “I don’t have any offer from them and that’s why I shouldn’t talk about it.”

However, adidas came out on Friday and confirmed that the two are in discussion about Gulden succeeding Rorsted. PUMA announced that Gulden’s position will be filled by Arne Freundt who formerly worked as PUMA’s Chief Commercial Officer.
