The sneaker that almost stayed in the vault is returning for the first time in 10 years.
We have previously covered the long history of the Air Jordan 11 Low. Originally, the sneaker was produced solely as a player exclusive for Michael Jordan. The retail version, the Jordan 11 IE Low, stripped away the materials that made the Jordan 11 the flashy sneaker it was. The patent leather and the mesh that dressed the upper was suddenly replaced by leather, elephant print, and breathable mesh.
Jordan would briefly take the court in the 11 IE Low, but eventually, he would switch to a more familiar look at the start of the 1996 NBA Finals. This pair was almost a 1-to- 1 of the mid-top Air Jordan 11 that captured the attention of basketball fans. Jordan paired this new PE with regulation black NBA socks, making it a little hard to notice in plain sight. As we all know, though, sneakerheads don’t ever miss a detail. The Bred Air Jordan 11 Low would go on to become a highly coveted sneaker from the Jordan Brand vault- which there were many sneaker on that list.
Fans of the sneaker would eventually have their prayers answered. Almost 20 years after Micheal Jordan graced the hardwood with the PE version, the Air Jordan 11 Low Bred would finally release to the public in 2015.
The 2015 release differed from the PE, though. The retail version would replace the familiar black sock liner for a more eye popping red sock liner to match the outsole. The sneaker also featured the familiar 23 along the ankle- along with a red Jumpman logo right below it.
Air Jordan’s 30th anniversary festivities brought out one of the most curious of sneakers from the PE Vault- while giving fans a slightly different spin to the 1996 PE.

Now, ten years since last releasing, the Air Jordan 11 Low Bred is making its return. This year’s retro, though, is a much closer rendition to the PE Jordan wore in 1996.
Jordan Brand’s 40th Anniversary has been all about brining back the classics. In some cases, like the Bred 85, the goal has been to replicate the sneaker that paved the way as closely as possible. This, ultimately, seems to be the goal with this year’s retro of the Bred 11 Low.
The 2025 retro features a mix of premium materials- including signature patent leather just like the original. The red sock liner is replaced with a black sock liner, resembling the original PE.
At a time where low top Jordan sneakers seem to be the current craze, the Air Jordan 11 Low Bred will be a welcomed addition to the rotation of Jordan Brand fans.
The Air Jordan 11 Low Bred releases via SNKRS and participating Jordan Brand retailers on April 26th.
