Yeezy Day 2022 Release Recap

Though the Kanye and Adidas relationship may be tumultuous over the Yeezy Day celebration, the annual restock event offered more chances to secure some of the classic Adidas Yeezy models like the “Ararat” Foam RNR and the iconic Turtle Dove 350s. We took a deep dive into all the processes, stock, and release times of the event.

Summary:
The whole drop took place over 15 hours and saw Adidas try a couple of different drop methods within their confirmed app.

The confirmed app was leveraged a lot more this year than weâ€ve seen in previous years and seemed to be the primary place they dropped most of the Yeezyâ€s this year. This is the first year weâ€ve seen Adidas manage multiple drops using their Queue Drop system for a quicker waiting room experience that felt very similar to the way SNKRs does a lot of their releases. 

This Queue Drop System was used for quite a few shoes but most importantly it was used for the most hyped shoe of this drop, the Yeezy 350 v1 ‘Turtledoveâ€. 

Unfortunately entering the Queue Drop for the Turtledoves wasnâ€t a smooth experience at all as many ran into various errors (due to the mass amount of demand for this drop) that kept them from entering where the only answer was to just keep trying until you were able to make it into the waiting room. 

What could have been a 15 minute drop turned into an hour long struggle.Thankfully the struggle was worth it as the SoleSavy community took home a lot of wins even though the rollout of the results was prolonged to even as late as 2 hours after the drop happened.

The other big drop that used this method today went significantly better. Entering the Queue Drop for the Yeezy Foam Runner ‘Ararat’ went significantly smoother as entries didnâ€t run into nearly as many issues and the drop wrapped up in about 30 minutes. Results were also promising as quite a few SoleSavy members were able to cop their first Foam Runners on this drop.

Unfortunately there were some bad implementations of this system shown today. Most Yeezy Slides were Queue Dropped by deliberately hiding the link to be able to try to buy them inside articles in the confirmed app. These drops also suffered from similar issues to the Turtledove queue drop and were pulled from the app fast enough that every Yeezy Slide drop was over before anyone was able to enter.

Outside of queue drops there were also a significant amount of drops that were draws. While the same errors that popped up during the Turtledove drop stopped people from entering some draws for a while, the longer 3 hour entry time gave enough time that even if you were running into issues you could get your entry in. The Draw results were also pretty positive as a lot of members were able to cop shoes like the hyped Yeezy 350 v2 ‘Core Red†and Yeezy Foam Runner ‘Onyx†off these draws.

Yeezy Supply was also used for some drops. Yeezy Supply definitely felt like Adidas’ secondary option this year as there were less shoes dropped there than confirmed and shoes took a lot longer to change on the website than the regular hourly shoe change weâ€re used to seeing. This was welcomed as Yeezy Supply has been a flawed website and flawed drop method for a couple of years now. The first 2 drops of the Yeezy 700 v1 ‘Analog†and Yeezy 500 ‘Supermoon†were encouraging as after the first 30 minutes of the drop waiting room time was nearly instant and pretty much all sizes of both those shoes were available up until they were pulled off the website to make room for the next drop. Unfortunately every drop after that didnâ€t see much success, the regular issues of reCaptcha errors and sessions expiring before checkouts could finish happened and eventually people just werenâ€t able to make it out of the waiting room.

There were also a couple of shoes that were slated to only drop on Yeezy day. While the Yeezy Boost 700 v1 ‘Hi-Res Blue†and Yeezy Knit Runner ‘Fade Azure†were dropped through the Confirmed app, the Yeezy Foam Runner ‘MX Carbon†only dropped through Yeezy Supply. Itâ€s unclear whether or not this exclusivity is gonna stick and weâ€ll see these eventually make it to boutiques and other retailers.
