We all say that as winter approaches that it’s “really time to start dressing” but we know that winter is actually the premium cozy season. As it gets colder, people want to go out less and get comfortable in the crib. In preparation for the cozy season, weâ€ve tested a myriad of the newest and comfiest kicks, from clogs to sandals, to measure their fit and comfort levels to help you find the perfect slip-on for your relaxation season. Here is the ultimate cozy kicks guide.

Air Jordan System.23

Jordan Brandâ€s foray into the clog game was initially met with mixed feelings, but it might have one of the best options on the market. The System.23 clog features three parts: the lightweight exterior shell, the woven snug-fit bootie, and interchangeable insoles, thus making it one of the more customizable options.

Fit
The external shell alone results in a looser fit, so if you plan on wearing just the clog, I would recommend going a size down. However, if you like the bootie with your shoe, the bootie fits a bit big too, so I recommend going down a half size to accommodate that. Adding the included thicker insoles will take up more space in the bootie, making it more fitted. It is surprisingly tricky to get the bootie and the shell on, so I advise putting them on in one step instead of one at a time.

Comfort
The clog is incredibly comfortable. The cushion system is incomparable. It really feels like you could hoop in these. The level of customization is impeccable, as each configuration offers a unique advantage. Wearing the shell alone is a perfectly acceptable option because the shoe’s shape prevents it from uncomfortably rubbing your ankle while also having ventilation with the holes on the toe box and heel area. However, despite the ventilation, with prolonged wear comes sweat, making them swell and tighten up.

Salehe Bembury x Pollex Clog

Salehe Bembury has cemented himself in the sneaker industry as one of the most creative designers out right now. His collaborations have been a hit, no matter the brand. So it should not have come as a surprise to anyone that his CROCS collaboration really hit the ground running. The Pollex Clog features a brand-new mold and updated straps for when you need to be on the move. Fit
That aforementioned new mold is a little tricky, sizing-wise. Salehe himself has recommended sizing down at least a full size. Some members in our SoleSavy community have gone as far as sizing down two sizes ( which seems to work for those who want to wear them without socks). The updated velcro straps allow for some adjustment, as well. All that said, though, sizing down a size seems to be the general consensus.

Comfort
One of the biggest, if not the biggest, reasons Crocs have left such an imprint in the sneaker industry is because of their comfort. Though the Salehe Clog is a new mold, the comfort that CROCS is known for is still there. The plastic centerpiece on the strap can take some getting used to, but thatâ€s nothing a little wear will not fix. You can also opt for taking the Salehe Clogs out of sport mode (back strap) if that is more of your preferred look.

Suicoke Moto-Cab

Japanese brand Suicoke is the leading fashion sandal producer, with its Moto-Cab being one of the most popular and emulated looks out now. The tech straps allow for customization and, most importantly, look super cool. They are a premiere blend of style and comfort, as you can still get a fit off without feeling underdressed.

Fit
The Moto-Cab sandal gets many points for the adjustable straps allowing for customized tightness, which is crucial for sandals. The sandal runs a bit small; I would suggest ordering a half size up for more wiggle room, especially if you like to wear socks with your sandals.

Comfort
Not only are the Moto-Cab sandals incredibly stylish theyâ€re also quite comfortable. The thick sole adds a level of comfort comparable to sneakers, and the adjustable straps ensure that the sandals can be worn at your preferred tightness.

Reebok Beatnik

Reebokâ€s pillowy mule is one of the premiere cozy kicks of the moment, with a slew of collaborations from Pleasures to Mountain Research. The adjustable strap on the back and side allow for adjustable levels of security for various activities.

Fit
The Reebok Beatnik is the prototypical sandal. It fits true-to-size, and the adjustable straps allow it to be customizable. The quilted upper allows for toe mobility and isnâ€t impacted nearly as severely by socks as the foam-based options.

Comfort
The Beatnik is like someone took the classic Birkenstock mule and made it even cozier. The quilted upper adds a nice level of padding and warmth, while the sandal is a bit more comfortable than your standard sandal, thanks to the thick and jagged sole, which also gives it an edge when stepping outside.

Nike Offline Pack

After the success of the Offline mule series, Nike switched it up for the Nike Offline Pack for a customizable slip-on affair. The sneaker features two pairs of insoles for a personalized fit and laces for a classic fit adjustment.

Fit
The Nike Offline Pack runs a bit big. However, thanks to its enlarged sole unit replacing the insoles donâ€t affect the sizing like with other options. The enclosed back gives a relaxed look and gives you all the vibes of a sneaker with the comfort of a sandal which is important for people who are averse to having their feet out. The laces are useful if you want to adjust the tightness, but the shoe fits perfectly fine without unlacing them once; it is a slip-on shoe with the laces as a suggestion.

Comfort
The Nike Offline Pack offers two insole options for the perfect comfort level. The insoles come in pink and green, and while both feature a bubbly, massage chair-like look, the pink insoles feature significantly more and are preferred for more active wearing, while the green is perfect for loungewear. The slip-onâ€s soft padded upper inspired by puffer jackets gives your foot a warm hug making it a winterwear winner.

TOMBOGO x Saucony Butterfly 

The TOMBOGO x Saucony Butterfly is a collaboration between Saucony and designer Tommy Bogo. Much like other recent clog options, it goes for a modular design with a breezy inner booty and a foam clog exterior. This customization is surprisingly robust, especially with the added grip sole of the inner boot, making it a viable house shoe option.

The TOMBOGO x Saucony Butterfly inner boot fits true to size and fits the foot perfectly like a sock. The outer clog works perfectly without the clog and wonâ€t be extra loose without the sock. Unlike every other option with an inner sock, the TOMBOGO x Saucony Butterflyâ€s sock features a grip pattern on the bottom, making them an excellent alternative to house shoes and giving the sneaker an extra layer of versatility.

Comfort
The comfort level of the TOMBOGO X Saucony Butterfly is next level. The PWRRUN cushioning in the sneaker takes it to a level above most of the options on this list. The inner boot also features padded ankle support offering a bit of extra cushion where you need it the most. The sockliner mesh also provides incredible breathability, so wearing it with the clog doesnâ€t hinder the amount of air reaching your feet without exposing them to the elements. Wearing them with socks doesnâ€t comprise the fit due of the breezy nature of the sockliner.

Converse Sponger Crater CX

Initially released as a collaboration with A Cold Wall; the Converse CX Crater was one of the first kicks to make a statement as a part of the new clogs and cozy kicks wave. The clog helped pave the way for slip-ons with an inner bootie.

Fit
The Converse CX Crater fits true to size with the bootie and is a bit big without it, but not enough to warrant going down a size as it would be too small without the bootie. The bootie fits snugly like a sock and is perfect for colder months. The lack of a securing back strap, however, does make them a bit floppier than others on the list.

Comfort
The Converse CX Crater offers an impressive level of cushion and paved the way for the more comfortable alternatives on this list, like the Jordan System.23. The sponge foam feels responsive and supportive.

Birkenstock Boston

The Birkenstock Boston is the OG of the cozy shoe game. The casual slip-on debuted back in 1979, and its classic style and signature cork footbeds make it a staple in comfortable culture. Collaborations have cemented its staying power with cultural giants such as Dior and Manolo Blahnik.

Fit
The Birkenstock Boston is made for any kind of wear and is the quintessential sandal to wear with socks. The backless nature of the shoe does create a bit of slippage, so I recommend sizing down for fit.

Comfort
The Birkenstock Boston hasnâ€t been around for nearly 50 years without being comfortable. The slip-on does take a bit of wear to get the perfect fit but features impressive comfort in the footbed. The flat outsole, however, features little shock absorption compared to the more modern options on the market. You can also get them as a fleece-lined option, making them versatile for any season.

Adidas AdiFom Q

The adidas AdiFom Q caused waves thanks to Kanye Westâ€s accusations that adidas was stealing his designs. The adiFom Q is a remix of the 2001 adidas basketball shoe, the adidas Quake, and is the most self-serious version of these shoes due to its laced design. The sneaker also features an inner sock-like many of the recent options and features an exposed design with holes for breathability.

Fit
Being a shoe with an inner sock option; the adidas adiFom Q shell is bigger to account for the addition. Unlike other options on the list, the lacing option allows for custom tightness. The Primeknit bootie fits snugly, but it adds such an impressive amount of comfort that I would recommend wearing it at all times, so I recommend going up half a size to avoid excessive tightness.

Comfort
The adidas adiFom Q has basketball DNA, so it includes an impeccable Boost cushioning system. While you can wear the adiFom Q without the Primeknit bootie, the bootie adds extra support with the adiPLUS cushioning on the bottom.

New Balance 2002 Mule

Though they have an original clog in the works, New Balance took a unique route with their cozy option by flipping the popular 2002R into a mule. This alternative keeps much of the 2002â€s build, making it a stylish and comfortable choice. The look comes in some of the silhouette’s most memorable colorways, making it almost impossible to discern and perfect to grab and go.

Fit
While the Yeezy Supply and adidas both recommend going up a size when purchasing the Foam Runner, it truly varies based on each individualâ€s feet. Some have expressed that it fits true to size, while others say it runs too small. The narrowing of the toe area combined with the wide space in the heel is often restrictive for wider foot wearers. The addition of socks adds to tightened fit tremendously. I recommend going up a size for those with wider feet to avoid the restrictive fit but staying true to size for other wearers.

Comfort
The adidas Yeezy Foam Runner is a perfect summer shoe with its open and breezy build. It also features a supportive cushioning system, yet the shoe itself can be slightly constraining due to the narrow toe.
