The NCAA is finally doing the right thing by the ladies as the NCAAW will call their tournament the same as the men’s.
“The D1 Women’s Basketball Championship will use ‘March Madness’ branding, beginning with the 2022 tournament. March Madness marketing had previously only been associated with the men’s tournament,” according to Front Office Sports.
The importance of renaming can’t be stressed enough. Though it might seem minuscule in the fight for women’s equality in sports, branding and association go a long way, especially in the most prominent collegiate tournament of the year.
The WNBA playoffs are heating up. The superstars-filled Las Vegas Aces and the Phoenix Mercury’s Big 3 are tied at one apiece, with Game 3 set to be a real duel. On the other side of the bracket, the heavily favorited Connecticut Sun and the Cinderella story Chicago Sky are also in a battle of their own. The Air Jordan 1 was the beginning of Jordan Brand, which started it all for MJ, so Billie chose the AJ1 KO. She wanted to add her twist to the design, including her logo on the tongue tag. Eilish dipped the silhouette in her signature Lime Green as an ode to her past style and looking to the future with the shoe being sustainably made, using materials better for the planet.
